What we collect

When you subscribe to StarsOut alerts, we collect your email address, your location coordinates (latitude and longitude), your city name, and your locale preference. That is all we collect.

Why we collect it

We use your location to calculate nightly stargazing scores based on weather and astronomical data. We use your email address to send you daily alert emails when conditions are good. Your locale preference determines the language of the site and emails.

Where we store it

Subscriber data is stored in Supabase (EU Frankfurt region). We also retain score logs for analytics purposes.

What we do NOT do

• We do not sell your data
• We do not share your data with third parties
• We do not use tracking pixels
• We do not use cookies for advertising

Cookies

We use a single cookie to remember your locale preference. This is a functional cookie, not a tracking cookie.

Email

Emails are sent via Truncus, our email infrastructure. Every email includes an unsubscribe link. If you unsubscribe or delete your account, all your data is removed.

Data retention

Your subscriber data is deleted when you unsubscribe. Score logs are retained in anonymized form for analytics.
